An excellent prog/tech-thrash album by this very underrated Russian band. This is their only full length and honestly this is all anybody should need to listen to anyway. What they achieved on this is very hard to reach no matter how many prog-thrash albums you know or can think of. For fans of Coroner, Believer, Watchtower, Artillery, Mekong Delta and the recent Vektor, but this one goes beyond all of the above somehow.

This was right before they went completely generic. This to me is like Coroner's own Heartwork, if you know what I mean. The solo on Son Of Lilith is probably the best lead guitar playing I ever heard.

Centaurus-A is a new death metal band on Listenable Records. Their debut Side Effects Expected is one of my favorite albums released this year. Centaurus-A, just like every other tech death band, shows extreme influence from Necrophagist, especially in the solos. However, these guys bring something else to the table: their brand of tech death is infused with a healthy dosage of thrash.

Tommy T. Baron will blow your fucking mind with his technical thrash riffs and melodic prog leads. Unlike most bands where the lead guitar is inactive during verses, every song has a lot of little solos thrown in everywhere. These consistent Swiss thrash masters never failed to amaze me. And like their first two albums, this third one will keep you wanting more and more...For all thrash fans.

Coroner is a thrash trio from Switzerland that played their own kind of thrash. Punishment for Decadence is their second full length and probably the best thrash record from the 80's. Not to say that the rest of their discography is any less brilliant. Coroner is easily the most original thrash band from Europe. Metal doesn't get any better than this.

This young French outfit finally put out their debut, which is beyond what your average brutal death/grindcore effort sounds like. It's moderately technical, but the riffs just keep on coming at you. No slow/fake brutal interludes, its all very thrashy. Imagine early Monstrosity or Decapitated with some fun grind attitude. This is an album for extrem metal lovers, do not get it if you dont like ferocious death metal.

This impressive Australian outfit are unsigned, but the quality of this four song EP is beyond anything. Probably some of the best metal songs I heard in the last 2 or 3 years. This EP is like a full blown assault of thrash/technical drums/guitar pairs, with some sweet bass licks and guttural vocals. If you like any death/thrash I am confident you will enjoy every second of it and the more you listen to it the more you wanna play it again. Sadly, the lead guitarist decided to leave the band and play solo prog metal, but the band is active now with a new guitarist. All 4 songs have videos on youtube, check these guys out.

Imagine an Atheist version of a Swedish progressive death metal band. Pretty technical riffs and badass vocals. Most songs break down into some very cool acoustic parts that make you realize how well the album was produced for the time. This is without a doubt my favorite album by this awesome underrated band. This is for all prog/tech death metal fans.

This is without a doubt the best album Arsis have put out to date. Thrashy, technical melodic death metal. If you know Arsis and never heard this you might end up with a different point of view regarding this awesome band. Tracks 5,6 and 7 are my favorite, and probably the best Arsis songs. Enjoy.

I'm not the biggest fan of tech death (aside from Arsis and Brain Drill) you'll meet, but I loved this album. Hell, I would even put it on the Best of 2008 list! The riffs are great, the drumming doesn't go overboard on double bass and blasting, the vocals mix with the rest of the instruments...What else can I say about this album?

The Thin Line Between is the only Neuraxis album I've listened to so far, but that's about to change.

Very groovy, heavy and moody. These French metalheads pull off an overall sound that's kind of hard to classify. This album is without a doubt their best to date. Gojira play a sort of progressive death metal that makes you feel like you're being stepped on by a giant, or punched in the face by hellboy. Very atmospheric, industrial, doomy, yet technical at times. The musiciaship is great. This is not music with solos or other instrumental noodling but rather a team effort with lots of groovy rythms and precise playing between the musicians. This band works like a machine. I would strongly recommend The Link Alive DVD, i got it a few days ago and i've been watching it everyday since.
