Ignominious Incarceration - Of Winter Born (2009)

8) Tide of Pestilence
9) In the Face of Absolution
10) Elusion of Mortality

If there's one thing that makes me happy, it's when a melodeath band has balls, just like Ignominious Incarceration. It almost sounds like Amon Amarth meets Suffocation.

Fen's basically one of those proggy black metal bands that sound like Enslaved. Nothing really special but I'd put it in my favorite albums this year so far.

Trigger the Bloodshed - Purgation (2008)

1) Inception

4) Rebirth
5) The Defiled
6) Severed
7) Impregnable Miscreation

13) Retribution
14) The Abortive Becoming
15) Domicile
16) Whited Sepulcher
17) A Perfect Casket

You gotta admit that Trigger the Bloodshed is an extremely generic deathcore band name. Plus, the band's image just shouts deathcore. However, these guys are a million times better than that boring deathcore crap that's out there today. First of all, there isn't an overdose of breakdowns. Next, they're fucking brutal. And then there's the vocals. Deep vocals laced with grindcore-style vocals and none of that pig squealing bullshit. Trigger the Bloodshed also uses some ambiance in their tracks. Overall, this band is like a cross between Suffocation, Nile and Napalm Death. Here's the band's debut album Purgation.

(United Kingdom) Grindcore/Death

This album is an idiosyncratic blast of old school grindcore mixing the traditional sound of bands like Napalm Death and Nasum with some more unique elements including black metal-tinged sections, banjos, heavy metal solos and some good old fashioned toe-tapping melodies. In other words, it's good. Enjoy.

Evile - Enter The Grave (2007)

Track list :

1. Enter the Grave
2. Thrasher
3. First Blood
4. Man Against Machine
5. Burned Alive
6. Killer From the Deep
7. We Who Are About To Die
8. Schizophrenia
9. Bathe In Blood
10. Armoured Assault

This record really speaks for itself. Young thrash band from England that released a debut in 2007 that sounds like it came 25 years too late. This is what thrash sounded like back then and what it should have always sounded like until now. Bands like Evile exist for that sake. Authentic thrash formula gives their sound an amazing punch that will keep you listening until the album is over. Bone-crushing riffs, simple flawless drum beats, blistering solos and slayeresque vocals that fit perfectly make Enter The Grave one of the best - if not the best - thrash album from last year. If you like thrash, grab this.
