Every year a bunch of old-school bands who haven't been active in ages release their "comeback" album, which usually ends up not being so great *coughmetallicacough*. This time, we have Brutal Truth's first full-length album in 12 years. Fortunately, this album is far from being called a piece of crap. Evolution Through Revolution features the same fast, aggressive, politically-driven grindcore that made Brutal Truth famous in the 90s.

Trap Them - Seizures in Barren Praise (2008)

Track Listing :

01. Day Nineteen: Fucking Viva
02. Day Twenty Eight: Targets
03. Day Twenty Six: Angles Anonymous in Transit
04. Day Twenty Nine: Reincarnation of Lost Lones
05. Day Twenty Five: Guignol Serene
06. Day Twenty: Flesh and Below
07. Day Twenty Four: Gutterbomb Heaven on the Grid
08. Day Twenty Three: Invertopia / Day Thirty: Class Warmth
09. Day Twenty One: Roam / Day Twenty Two: Absent Civilians
10. Day Thirty One: Mission Convincers

This New Hampshire hardcore band hasn't been around for long. In fact, they transfered to Deathwish Inc. in late 2007. And with that they gained the quality of being instantly memorable, something they never quite accomplished before. The band's ability to blend the intense d-beat grindcore of earlier recordings with inventive, slower-paced tracks all while maintaining high levels of abrasiveness and emotion makes Seizures in Barren Praise their finest record to date. This is without a doubt one of the year's best.

Trigger the Bloodshed - Purgation (2008)

1) Inception
2) Merciless Ignorance

3) Laceration
4) Rebirth

5) The Defiled

6) Severed

7) Impregnable Miscreation

8) Hollow

12) A Wretched Betrayal

13) Retribution

14) The Abortive Becoming
15) Domicile

16) Whited Sepulcher

17) A Perfect Casket

You gotta admit that Trigger the Bloodshed is an extremely generic deathcore band name. Plus, the band's image just
shouts deathcore. However, these guys are a million times better than that boring deathcore crap that's out there today. First of all, there isn't an overdose of breakdowns. Next, they're fucking brutal. And then there's the vocals. Deep vocals laced with grindcore-style vocals and none of that pig squealing bullshit. Trigger the Bloodshed also uses some ambiance in their tracks. Overall, this band is like a cross between Suffocation, Nile and Napalm Death. Here's the band's debut album Purgation.

(United Kingdom) Grindcore/Death

This album is an idiosyncratic blast of old school grindcore mixing the traditional sound of bands like Napalm Death and Nasum with some more unique elements including black metal-tinged sections, banjos, heavy metal solos and some good old fashioned toe-tapping melodies. In other words, it's good. Enjoy.
