This release went relatively unnoticed in this year's earlier releases, but it caught my ear just enough for me to want to download it for a closer listen. Nanda Devi are an American outfit who play a style of atmospheric sludge akin to early Isis, Pelican, and perhaps Neurosis. This album, their debut, did not fail in inducing fierce headbanging from its dense atmosphere and powerful rhythms and riffing.
