Not so long ago, I knew absolutely nothing about black metal and held similar views to many I’ve seen around the group “lack of variation, production sounds like it was recorded in a tin can, boring riffs, ect.” Well, and then I gave “Blood Libels” a spin and it surprised the hell out of me how this genre so misunderstood by myself can be so awesome and extreme. Blood Libels remains just as crushing now that I’ve dabbled in a good deal of black metal and understand the sound being conveyed. I recommend this album to ANYONE that has a taste for extreme music, whether they like black metal or not.
