For a few months, I've been finding that I don't like black metal as much as I thought I did (with the exception of folk/black metal). However, a few bands have managed to spark up my interest a little bit, one of these bands being Darkestrah. Darkestrah is one of the very few heavy metal bands from Kyrgyzstan, although they've recently relocated to Germany. The band's latest album, The Great Silk Road, contains epic black metal suites much like their other work. This album is definitely among the year's best releases.
