Order of Ennead is one of many new artists this year. Named after the nine beings that supposedly created the universe and gave intelligence to mankind, this new band plays a unique style of blackened death metal. The music has the black metal atmosphere, vocals, and riffage and death metal drumming. However, there is one thing that stands out: the technical and melodic soloing of John Li and Kevin Quirion, which sounds like a cross between tech death and melodeath, yet manages to be neither soulless nor too Gothenburg-ish. This album is easily one of the best released this year.
