Good old school Swedish death metal. They don't add anything new to this genre but this entry is pretty intense. Production is nice and crisp, and for a come back this album kicks ass. Grab this if you like good early 90's swedeath.

Imagine an Atheist version of a Swedish progressive death metal band. Pretty technical riffs and badass vocals. Most songs break down into some very cool acoustic parts that make you realize how well the album was produced for the time. This is without a doubt my favorite album by this awesome underrated band. This is for all prog/tech death metal fans.

This album from Vintersorg takes viking metal in a very progressive direction taking the general style and blending in intensive drumming, complex guitar riffs, melodies and juat overall catchy songs. The band seems to overall have caught a fairly mystical, atmospheric and melodic feel and is interesting and enjoyable to listen to.

This album from the Therion/Chimaira side project hits hard. It is a concept album about the biblical Riders Of The Apocalypse and really what topic could be more fitting? The album blends all sorts of styles into one, it keeps its death metal sound while keyboards add a atmospheric feel to the music, as well as blending bits of technical instrumental work with death and black metal style vocals. All this makes for a very solid combination of songs and a pretty kickass album.

This is Mikael Åkerfeldt, Anders Nordin and Peter Lindgren (Opeth members at the time) with Dan Swano (Bloodbath) on vocals. Except this record is nothing like Opeth or Bloodbath, this is old school power metal a la Judas Priest. I never thought those musicians could ever pull off this sound. True 80's heavy metal. Consistent death metal band Unleashed still sound like what Unleashed stand for: Tremendous power, relatively simple, but all the more effective riffing, subtle, but cool melodies and now also great guitar solos. One of my favourite european death metal acts. Midvinterblot is their 8th album and probably their best to date.
