Rotting Christ is an essential band of the second wave of black metal. Although not from the same region, Rotting Christ plays a slightly less aggressive style of black metal very similar to that of black metal giants Emperor. Sakis' vocals also come off deeper than traditional black metal vocals. Thy Mighty Contract is the band's first, and among the best, full-length album.

I've Got to Have it!

(Greece) Death Metal

Here is a death metal band that truly appreciates the dark and atmospheric style of early 90's extreme metal. I'd venture to say that this is THE best underground metal release of 2008. Yeah, it's that good. Seriously though, check it out if you have no clue who this band is. They easily invoke some classic Immolation and are on par with several other modern day death metal bands like Necrocultus or Repugnant. Looking for catchy, cookie-cutter shit? You're not going to find it with this band. Remember, if you like it, buy it. Support this band so we can have more than just this and their EP (Purifying Consecrated Ground).
